Amanda-Esposito-Cruz

Dr. Amanda Esposito Cruz

Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Esposito found her love for animals early in life. “As a kid, I had an obsession with Disney’s 101 Dalmatians. I begged my parents, Santa, and anyone who would listen to me for a Dalmatian puppy. I carried around a stuffed one everywhere, until the day my parents let me pick out “Lucky”. Best day ever of my nine-year-old life! Fortunately, my parents also indulged in my desire (read: incessant begging) for hamsters, birds, and of course my “heart cat” Spartacus, whom we rescued from a box outside Walmart.”

Dr. Esposito was raised in Tampa Bay. She attended the University of South Florida for undergraduate education, majoring in Biomedical Science, while also working as a veterinary assistant at a local hospital. She is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical training at the University of Florida.

Dr. Esposito is a proud member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and American Association of Feline Practitioners. She is also Fear Free Certified and is passionate about providing low-stress handling for her patients.

In 2018, Dr. Esposito joined a committee to begin the Tampa International Airport Police Dog Guardians, a board of members dedicated to providing training and medical care to current and retired police dogs, as well as community education.

Prior to opening Villa Rosa Veterinary Hospital in 2020, Dr. Esposito worked in general practice, emergency medicine, and shelter medicine, and provided in-home euthanasia and hospice care, where she was a cat vet and a dog vet.

Dr. Esposito enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her dog, Dezi, water sports, and Orangetheory. This veterinarian is a big cat lover and embraces the title of a crazy cat lady.

Dr. Ali is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association. Her interests include surgery and dentistry.

Tanya-Richard

Tanya

Practice Manager

I guess you could say it all started when I was 5 years old. My grandparents got me a beagle puppy for Christmas. I was a huge Chipmunks fan, and I named him Dale Chip Chambers. I was so in love! I even told my parents I wasn’t going to have children, I was going to have puppies!

Fast-forward to 1995, and I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Agriculture. I moved to Charlotte, NC, and worked for a landscape company. After 8 years there, which is also where I met and married my husband, we decided to move to Tampa, FL.

I decided on a career change in 2008 with the encouragement of my best friend and my husband’s blessing, with the condition that I wouldn’t bring home any pets (yea, right!). I was hired to be the office manager of a brand-new pet hospital, where I met Dr. Amanda. I watched her grow from a technician to the great veterinarian she has become. We both embrace the same values and want what’s best for you and your furbaby!

I am currently the fur mom to Maxwell (a yellow lab) and Duke (a chocolate lab). I also have 11 chickens whom I adore and love all of their antics! I can’t wait to meet our new clients and get to know each and every one of you. We look forward to adding you to our family!

Kelsey

Kelsey

Certified Veterinary Technician, Lead Technician

I wanted to work with animals from the beginning. Growing up here in Florida on a dairy farm run by my father, grandparents, and uncle, I always wanted to help with the care of the animals, and that sparked my interest in animal medicine. I graduated from Hillsborough County Community College with an Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology and became a Certified Veterinary Nurse.

Over the last eight years, I’ve had experience in Emergency and General Practice, and I have spent time at a local animal shelter assisting with spay and neuter surgeries. Several years ago, I was able to work with Dr. Amanda Esposito, and I was eager to join her team here at Villa Rosa.

My house is full of fur, with three dogs and one rabbit. I spend my free time with my large family (some of whom still own beef cattle) and camping, hiking, skating, and fishing out of a conversion van with my fiancé.

Macy

Macy

Veterinary Technician

Macy is originally from a small town in northern Iowa; she moved to the Tampa area a little over 3 years ago. In 2015, she graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Wildlife Care. After graduation, Macy worked at Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines, Iowa, as a Large Mammal Keeper. Her favorite animal to care for was a male Eastern Black Rhino named “Keanu”. In 2018, she followed her family down to central Florida and began working at a small animal hospital; there, she found her niche caring for dogs and cats.

Macy recently moved to the Wesley Chapel area with her fiancé. You can find them spending time at the beach, exploring the state, and hanging out with their two pups and cat. Macy is excited to continue working with Dr. Esposito and be a part of the Wesley Chapel community.

Sydney

Sydney

Veterinary Technician

Sydney is a Tampa native currently completing her B.S. in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Animal Sciences at the University of South Florida. Sydney’s previous experience in animal shelter care and various animal-biology research facilities has continued to shape her interests and furthered her love for the animal sciences field. Sydney previously worked as an Aquarium Educator at The Florida Aquarium, where she had the pleasure of interacting with local families and sharing her passion for animals of all shapes and sizes.

Sydney and her high-school sweetheart had the pleasure of moving to the Clearwater area in 2020 and immediately found themselves searching for a rescue pup. Only a month after combining households, they found the love of their lives, Abel, a 10-year-old Labrador Retriever who quickly became their night and day. The couple now lives in New Tampa, where they spend their free time spoiling their gentle giant with plenty of beach days, long walks, and an overwhelming amount of love.

Chelsey

Chelsey

Veterinary Technician

Chelsey is a native Floridian with a love for animals. She knew from a young age that her heart was in the veterinary field. Chelsey began her journey to fulfill that passion in 2015 when she started as a kennel assistant. However, through hard work and hands-on training, she expeditiously excelled to become a veterinary technician. Chelsey’s favorite part about being a vet tech is being able to provide superior care while watching her patients thrive.

When she is not working, Chelsey enjoys spending her free time with her loving husband and their four boys. They all love being at the baseball field or on the boat. Chelsey has a dachshund named Minion, a pittie named Poppy, and two sweet cats, Fishsticks and Gamora.

Chelsey is very excited to work alongside Dr. Esposito Cruz and the Villa Rosa staff.

Stephanie

Stephanie

Veterinary Technician

Stephanie was born and raised in the countryside of Puerto Rico and has always been surrounded by animals. As a teenager, she moved to Chicago and began her work experience and continued exposure to animals at a local pet store.

After graduating from DePaul University in Lincoln Park, she received an opportunity to work at a downtown animal hospital as a receptionist and never looked back. While gaining experience in customer service and overall animal health, she was exposed to exam room and treatment area assistance with the hospital staff and was able to become a veterinary assistant.

While her dream was to continue to work with animals, her passion was more targeted to exotic animal medicine. She took a leap of faith and moved to Oceanside, California, and was accepted as a veterinary assistant at a small animal and exotic animal hospital. There, she was able to assist with dogs, cats, exotics, and even wildlife, including owls, raccoons, all sorts of bird species, and even a seal that needed stabilization after a pier injury, later transported to SeaWorld, San Diego, for continued care and rehabilitation. While being mentored by a technician instructor and amazing supervisor, Stephanie was able to work in surgery with seven different doctors and intern doctors as well during their surgical rotations.

After being in California for almost 4 years, Stephanie decided to move to the East Coast to be closer to family in Puerto Rico. She joined the Villa Rosa Veterinary Hospital team in mid-2024 and feels right at home with the wonderful staff there. Her goal is to deliver outstanding client and patient care and offer her skillset and respectful interactions with both patients and clients.

Stephanie has what seems like a small zoo in her home, including her Australian Cattle Dog named Indigo, a Calico kitty whom she adores named Miss Honey Bun, her Green Cheek Conure named Coqui, a box turtle named Chip, 18 chickens, a wild duck who never left her yard named Ducky and her animal keeper husband Pedro who also has a passion for animal welfare and health.

Brianna

Brianna

Veterinary Technician

Brianna Taylor has always been driven by a passion for hard work and dedication. She spent 14 years as a gymnast, training at an elite level with hopes of making it to the Olympics. When an injury ended her gymnastics career, she transitioned to cheerleading in college. However, her love for animals led her to pursue a degree in Animal Science with a focus on Pre-Veterinary studies.

Throughout her career, Brianna has worked with a wide variety of animals, including horses, exotics, and small animals. These experiences have deepened her commitment to animal care and strengthened her goal of becoming an Emergency Veterinarian in the near future. She is passionate about making a difference in the lives of animals and their owners, especially during their most challenging times.

At home, Brianna shares her life with her feisty Chihuahua, Bear, who always keeps her entertained with his big personality. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new hobbies and spending quality time with family and friends.

Sophia’s unique blend of artistic sensibility and compassion for animals defines both her professional and personal life.

Brianna

Emaya

Veterinary Assistant

Born and raised in Florida, Emaya has always had a deep love for animals, whether it was supporting her mom’s efforts to care for strays or bonding with her own pets at home. This passion soon developed into a desire to work-hands in the animal care field, leading her to begin her journey in the animal care field. While attending Armwood High School, she was part of the newly implemented Veterinary Assistant Program, where she gained hands-on experience and foundational knowledge in animal care. She continues to build on these principles at Hillsborough Community College, studying in the Veterinary Program for undergraduate students, and plans to transfer to the University of South Florida to further her education and pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Emaya now works at Villa Rosa Veterinary Hospital, where she recently started her journey as part of the clinic team. There, she assists with daily patient care, learns from experienced professionals, and continues to build her skills in a real-world setting.
