Villa Rosa Veterinary Hospital was founded by Dr. Amanda Esposito Cruz in June of 2020. She developed a wonderful team that is just as passionate about their patients as the owners are for them. This is Wesley Chapel's best veterinary clinic, located just north of Tampa, offering comprehensive, compassionate, and affordable care. This team will be by your side every step of the way as you journey through the lifetime of your beloved family members. Choosing Villa Rosa for your veterinary care is the best decision you can make for your pet!
Dr. Amanda Esposito Cruz is a Tampa native. Her memberships include the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Feline Practitioners, and Tampa International Airport Police Dog Guardians. She is also Fear Free certified, so there will never be extra stress for your pets when they're in her hands!
Tanya Richard is our office manager and she is just as passionate about pets as anyone! She is a Purdue University graduate with a long history in agriculture and management. Currently, she parents two dogs and eleven chickens.
Laura is a Veterinary Technician with a passion for helping others, whether human or animal. She was a special education teacher for many years before deciding to switch careers and take care of the animals she loves so much.
Macy is a Veterinary Technician who loves animals of all shapes and sizes. She worked as a Large Mammal Keeper at a zoo in Iowa for many years before she fell in love with caring for the smaller (but perhaps just as wild) cats and dogs.
Villa Rosa's team is made up of compassionate people. Each of them has their own pets, so they understand what it's like to be in your shoes. The team consists of Dr. Amanda Esposito Cruz, who has worked in various areas of pet medicine from general practice to hospice care, prior to opening Villa Rosa Veterinary Hospital. Office Manager Tanya Richard has watched Dr. Amanda blossom from technician to veterinarian throughout their years working together. Veterinary technicians are an essential part of the practice. Laura instantly misses work when she's not there and Macy found her niche with cats and dogs at this very hospital. Last and most definitely not least is Dezi, Dr. Amanda's dog. Dezi is designated with the title of hospital greeter and certified staff snuggler. All the hospital's team members practice Fear Free techniques to provide the most relaxed experience possible for their patients. They understand that visiting the vet can be stressful, so they do everything they can to make it a calming experience for everyone.
Veterinary services are available for both cats and dogs. For routine check-ups, they provide Wellness Exams, Vaccinations, House Calls, Flea & Tick Treatment/Prevention and more to help keep your pet healthy. In addition, they offer Dental Care, Spay & Neuter Services, and Microchipping. And for your aging loved ones, Villa Rosa provides Geriatric Care, Pain Management, and End of Life & Cremation services. Dr. Amanda and her team are prepared to provide dedicated medical care throughout the lifetime of your cat or dog.

Dr. Esposito found her love for animals early in life. “As a kid, I had an obsession with Disney’s 101 Dalmatians. I begged my parents, Santa, and anyone that would listen to me, for a Dalmatian puppy. I carried around a stuffed one everywhere, until the day my parents let me pick out “Lucky”. Best day ever of my 9 year old life! Fortunately, my parents also indulged in my desire (read: incessant begging) for hamsters, birds, and of course my “heart cat” Spartacus, that we rescued from a box outside Walmart."
Dr. Esposito was raised in Tampa Bay. She attended the University of South Florida for undergraduate education, majoring in Biomedical Science, while also working as a veterinary assistant at a local hospital. She is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical training at the University of Florida.
Dr. Esposito is a proud member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and American Association of Feline Practitioners. She is also Fear Free Certified and is passionate about providing low-stress handling for her patients.
In 2018, Dr. Esposito joined a committee to begin the Tampa International Airport Police Dog Guardians, a board of members dedicated to providing training and medical care to current and retired police dogs, as well as community education.
Prior to opening Villa Rosa Veterinary Hospital in 2020, Dr. Esposito worked in general practice, emergency medicine, shelter medicine, and provided in home euthanasia and hospice care where she was a cat vet and a dog vet.
Dr. Esposito enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her dog, Dezi, water sports, and Orangetheory. This veterinarian is a big cat lover and embraces the title of crazy cat lady.
I guess you could say it all started when I was 5 years old. My grandparents got me beagle puppy for Christmas. I was a huge Chipmunks fan and I named him Dale Chip Chambers. I was so in love! I even told my parents I wasn’t going to have children, I was going to have puppies!
Fast forward to 1995 and I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Agriculture. I moved to Charlotte, NC and worked for a landscape company. After 8 years there and also where I met and married my husband, we decided to move to Tampa, FL. I decided on a career change in 2008 with the encouragement of my best friend and my husband’s blessing with the condition I wouldn’t bring home any pets (yea, right!), I was hired to be the office manager of a brand new pet hospital where I met Dr Amanda. I watched her grow as a technician to the great veterinarian she has become. We both embrace the same values and want what’s best for you and your furbaby!
I am currently the fur mom to Maxwell (a yellow lab) and Duke (chocolate lab). I also have 11 chickens who I adore and love all of their antics! I can’t wait to meet our new clients and get to know each and every one of you. We look forward to adding you to our family!
Laura graduated from St. Pete College in 2015 with a degree in Veterinary Technology and has spent the last four years working at a nonprofit veterinary hospital in Tampa. Laura taught for many years while traveling and living in Pennsylvania, Korea, Alaska and finally settled down in Tampa. Laura has been married for 11 years and has one son and one dog. Laura enjoys walking her dog, spending time with family and friends, the beach, and being outside when the weather is cooler. When not at work, Laura wishes she was at work! She loves being a veterinary technician and is very happy to be working with Dr. Amanda Esposito.
Macy is originally from a small town in northern Iowa; she moved to the Tampa area a little over 3 years ago. In 2015, she graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Wildlife Care. After graduation, Macy worked at Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines, Iowa as a Large Mammal Keeper. Her favorite animal to care for was a male Eastern Black Rhino named “Keanu”. In 2018, she followed family down to central Florida and began working at a small animal hospital; there she found her niche of caring for dogs and cats.
Macy recently moved to the Wesley Chapel area with her fiancé. You can find them spending time at the beach, exploring the state, and hanging out with their two pups and cat. Macy is excited to continue working with Dr. Esposito and be a part of the Wesley Chapel community.
Julie graduated from The University of South Florida with a BS in Health Sciences and The University of Memphis with a Master’s in Public Health in 2018. Julie has worked in a shelter, emergency, and general veterinary practices. Over time she has found personalized general veterinary care the most rewarding. Julie’s passion in life is to be an advocate for those who can not speak for themselves.
Julie has been married for 9 years and will have two children by the end of 2021. Her fur baby is a chihuahua mixed named Benny and he enjoys being the king of the house.
Julie's hobbies include making holiday gnomes, hands-on crafts with her daughter, watching movies and traveling to a new place each year for vacation.
Megan graduated with honors from the University of South Florida with a BA in Business Management. Prior to working at Villa Rosa, she was a supervisor and worked in the Human Resources field. Megan is currently a student and is completing her prerequisite courses for her doctorate degrees. Her dream is to become a veterinarian and obtain her doctorate from the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She is the proud Mom of two fur babies - Jake the German Shepherd and Colby Jack the cat. She initially fostered Jake and shortly after he became a part of her family, which encouraged her to become a huge advocate for rescuing animals. She jokes about having a “frequent flyer card” with her local shelter for all of the lost
animals and strays that she brings to safety. In her free time, Megan enjoys traveling, watching crime documentaries, spending time with her fiancé, and volunteering with adoptive/foster families. She loves giraffes, cats with mustaches, Mexican food, and the aliens from Toy Story.
Dezi enjoys greeting clients, napping in mom's office, and protecting the team from the UPS man. Outside of work, he loves the beach, belly rubs, long walks, and always enjoys a good BarkBox.
