Dr. Amanda Esposito

Dr. Amanda Esposito Cruz

Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Esposito found her love for animals early in life. “As a kid, I had an obsession with Disney’s 101 Dalmatians. I begged my parents, Santa, and anyone that would listen to me, for a Dalmatian puppy. I carried around a stuffed one everywhere, until the day my parents let me pick out “Lucky”. Best day ever of my 9 year old life! Fortunately, my parents also indulged in my desire (read: incessant begging) for hamsters, birds, and of course my “heart cat” Spartacus, that we rescued from a box outside Walmart."

Dr. Esposito was raised in Tampa Bay. She attended the University of South Florida for undergraduate education, majoring in Biomedical Science, while also working as a veterinary assistant at a local hospital. She is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical training at the University of Florida.

Dr. Esposito is a proud member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and American Association of Feline Practitioners. She is also Fear Free Certified and is passionate about providing low-stress handling for her patients.

In 2018, Dr. Esposito joined a committee to begin the Tampa International Airport Police Dog Guardians, a board of members dedicated to providing training and medical care to current and retired police dogs, as well as community education.

Prior to opening Villa Rosa Veterinary Hospital in 2020, Dr. Esposito worked in general practice, emergency medicine, shelter medicine, and provided in home euthanasia and hospice care where she was a cat vet and a dog vet.

Dr. Esposito enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her dog, Dezi, water sports, and Orangetheory. This veterinarian is a big cat lover and embraces the title of crazy cat lady.

Dr. Mester is a Tampa native and has been practicing small animal veterinary medicine for almost 20 years.  She wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember and has had a variety of pets growing up, including dogs, cats, ducks, frogs, fish, an Australian Bearded Dragon named Reptar and a three-legged hamster affectionately called "Tri-pod".

After graduating high school, Dr. Mester attended Auburn University (War Eagle!), where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Zoology and continued on to attend veterinary school there.  She loves all things Auburn and it goes without saying that Dr. Mester is an Auburn tiger through and through!

Dr. Mester is a current member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and is a past president of the Hillsborough County Veterinary Medical Society (HCVMS).  She also still currently serves as an HCVMS board member.

In her free time, Dr. Mester stays busy spending time with her husband, two kids, 3 dogs (Charlie, Ella and Bear) and a guinea pig (Fredrick).  As a family, they enjoy travelling and exploring new places, boating and are avid theme park-goers!  Dr. Mester has worked with Dr. Esposito in the past and is very happy to be a part of the Villa Rosa family!

Tanya Richard

Office Manager

I guess you could say it all started when I was 5 years old. My grandparents got me beagle puppy for Christmas. I was a huge Chipmunks fan and I named him Dale Chip Chambers. I was so in love! I even told my parents I wasn’t going to have children, I was going to have puppies!

Fast forward to 1995 and I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Agriculture. I moved to Charlotte, NC and worked for a landscape company. After 8 years there and also where I met and married my husband, we decided to move to Tampa, FL. I decided on a career change in 2008 with the encouragement of my best friend and my husband’s blessing with the condition I wouldn’t bring home any pets (yea, right!), I was hired to be the office manager of a brand new pet hospital where I met Dr Amanda. I watched her grow as a technician to the great veterinarian she has become. We both embrace the same values and want what’s best for you and your furbaby!

I am currently the fur mom to Maxwell (a yellow lab) and Duke (chocolate lab). I also have 11 chickens who I adore and love all of their antics! I can’t wait to meet our new clients and get to know each and every one of you. We look forward to adding you to our family!

Certified Veterinary Technician

I wanted to work with animals from the beginning. Growing up here in Florida on a dairy farm run by my father, grandparents, and uncle, I always wanted to help with the care of the animals and that sparked my interest in animal medicine. I graduated from Hillsborough County Community College with an Associate in Science in Veterinary Technology and became a Certified Veterinary Nurse. Over the last 8 years, I’ve had experience in Emergency and General Practice and I spend time at a local animal shelter assisting with spay and neuter surgeries. Several years ago, I was able to work with Dr. Amanda Esposito and I was eager to join her team here at Villa Rosa.

My house is full of fur with three dogs and one rabbit. Free time is spent with my large family (some of whom still own beef cattle) and camping/hiking/skating/fishing out of a conversion van with my fiancé.

Veterinary Technician

Summer graduated from Valencia College with her Associate in Science in 2020. She’s continuing her education at the University of South Florida where she is pursuing a BS in Marine Biology, while also working on her Veterinary Technician certification at Penn Foster.

Summer started with a love of marine animals. She has worked at various aquariums, including The Florida Aquarium, Sea Life, and SeaWorld in the education field. She had the opportunity to work in the Rescue and Rehabilitation side at SeaWorld, where she discovered her love for helping animals hands-on. Summer also volunteered with The Marine Science Center to help rehabilitate sea turtles. After meeting her fiancé, who has two golden retrievers that are now her fur babies as well, she fell in love with them and wanted to start working with dogs and cats. She is excited to be working with Dr. Esposito and is happy to work somewhere that she loves. In her free time, she likes to go hiking with her fiancé and two dogs, go to the beach, surf, and scuba dive.

Sydney is a Tampa native currently completing her B.S. in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Animal Sciences at the University of South Florida. Sydney’s previous experience in animal shelter care and various animal-biology research facilities has continued to shape her interests and furthered her love for the animal sciences field. Sydney previously worked as an Aquarium Educator at The Florida Aquarium, where she had the pleasure of interacting with local families and sharing her passion for animals of all shapes and sizes.
Sydney and her high-school sweetheart had the pleasure of moving to the Clearwater area in 2020 and immediately found themselves searching for a rescue pup. Only a month after combining households, they found the love of their lives, Abel, a 10-year-old Labrador Retriever who quickly became their night and day. The couple now lives in New Tampa, where they spend their free time spoiling their gentle giant with plenty of beach days, long walks, and an overwhelming amount of love.
